Italian Adventure Pt. 02
After two full days of sex, food, swimming naked and more sex, they decided they would take a tour of a local vineyard. They found a tour that included bike riding in the countryside just outside of Naples. The bike ride would take them along the coast line to the volcanic Lake Averno. The lake itself had an ancient and fascinating history. It did not have a natural outlet and a legend told that no birds could fly over the lake because of the poisonous sulfur vapors emanating from it. The poet Virgil represented the lake in his writings as the entrance to Hades. A canal was eventually built connecting the lake to a naval harbor, however the canal was destroyed in WWII. They rode their bikes around the lake to the Phlegrean Fields, where they met up with the rest of their group and had lunch while hearing about the history of the region and sampling an array of wines.
